THE ELDERS
Brad HomanLead Pastor
Brad has served as the Lead Pastor of Fortuna Baptist Church since 2010. He is passionate about leading the church with a heart for discipleship, outreach, and Gospel-centered teaching. Brad is married to Haley, who serves as the church's music leader, and together they have two children: Silas and Lily.
A native of the community, Brad grew up in Tipton and graduated from Tipton High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in middle school math and science from Missouri State University. After graduating, Brad returned to Tipton and began working in the Tipton School District, where he taught and coached. During this time, he also preached bi-vocationally, balancing both his teaching career and his calling to ministry. In 2021, after much prayer and discernment, Brad made the decision to step away from teaching and coaching in order to fully dedicate himself to serving the church as a full-time pastor. Outside of ministry, Brad enjoys drinking unsweet tea and meeting up with his friends Chris & Derek. |
Chris RoeDiscipleship Pastor
After twenty plus years of working in the asphalt industry, Chris was called into the pastoral ministry. He and his wife, Duanella, moved to Kansas City from West Plains, MO, so Chris could attend Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During the time there, Chris was called to pastor Stover First Baptist, where he ministered and finished his Masters of Theological Studies. Chris now serves Fortuna Baptist Church as the associate pastor of discipleship and the director of the Shepherd-Preacher training program.
Chris has a heart for discipling men and helping churches in rural communities. Hobbies include drinking unsweet tea and meeting with Brad & Derek. Chris and Duanella have been married since 2001 and have five grown daughters, five grandsons, and one dog. |
Derek LoganbillLay Pastor
Derek has a heart for young adult and family discipleship, with a passion for cultivating deep-rooted faith that strengthens families for generations to come. He serves through occasional preaching and teaching, small group leadership, and leadership support.
Derek is a native to the community and grew up on a farm south of Syracuse—just a few miles from Pastor Brad Homan’s childhood home—and they have been friends since childhood. Derek and his wife, LeManda, live in Tipton and have five children: Brooklynn, Hannah, Dylan, Tyler, and Kylie. Derek graduated from Tipton High School and earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri S&T in Rolla. He works at Martin Energy Group as the Director of Project Management. He has also served as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, church council chairman, and deacon. Derek is grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness through both joyful seasons and difficult trials, and 1 Timothy 1:15–16 is a core passage that continues to shape his life and ministry. Derek hasn’t committed to drinking unsweet tea by the gallon and usually sticks with water when he meets up with Brad and Chris. |
